This summer I got blackberries for 50 cents a pint, so of course I bought countless boxes. I dehydrated some, and froze what ever didn’t get eaten. My kids had purple smiles and seeds in their teeth for days. I love cooking fruit in savory dishes, so I decided to get creative with my frozen stash.
I am so excited to share this idea with you, because it’s so easy, beautiful, sounds fancy, and it’s delicious. Here’s all you have to do – – buy a spiral ham with a glaze packet. Cook the ham as instructed, and prepare the glaze as instructed. Defrost 1 1/2 cups of frozen blackberries and mash. After glaze comes to a boil, add mashed blackberries. Glaze ham as instructed.
The result was a ham tinted with a beautiful blackberry glaze, with pretty much no effort. I’m going to try this with other fruits, including strawberries. Strawberry glazed ham? Never heard of that. Exactly. I love trying new things in the kitchen. I’ll update this post after I try other fruit glazes.
